Ripping, Twitching, and Jerking are methods used to describe a style of fishing that use a longer slender minnow profile bait to catch fish. These baits very in length, diving depths, suspending versus floating models and in design. Ripping is usually associated with winter and spring when the water temps are in the low to mid 50's. Larger baits and deeper divers are typically thrown this time of year. Large jerking or ripping motions are used to move this bait through the various water columns. Twitching a term used by some is a method used in late summer and early fall where the bait is moved much faster and you are targeting fish feeding on bait fish. Different styles of baits with different depths are used depending on your particular situation.
