Fishing Crankbaits

Crank Baits can be fished throughout the year but are most affective when the fish are actively feeding on baitfish and crawfish. Shorter bill baits are for shallow water and longer bill baits are for deeper water. Flat sided baits typically have a tight narrow wiggle while wider body baits wiggle wider. Determining which is best under what condition can be achieved by throwing each and letting the fish tell you. I typically like tighter, faster moving lures when the fish are active and slower, wider body lures when the fish need to be coaxed.
