A-Rig is all the buzz Spreader Rig Mania has taken over the bass fishing world. Yes they are catching fish, yes there is pro's and con's but what would bass fishing be with out a little excitement. Bottom line they are catching fish so if you have not used them I would take the time to learn them. Fish nice fish and good quantities are being caught on them. One of the best baits to use with them has been the Maverick Kick Tails, they have won several tournaments up here. That and the new Maverick Swim Bait Hook are great paired with any A-Rig. Other bites have been dart heads using a 1/16oz head and a 3 or 4 inch worm, drop shotting, shaky head, on and off blade action and tail spinners. We have had some nice jig days as well as swimbiat days S Waver seems to be the trick. Fish are being caught Mid Lake and North. Good spots Henderson, Shag, Kona, Rocky Point, back side of Anderson, and around Rattle Snake.

Sorry for not updating but we had a power surge that took out the computer system here but we are back on line. The bite though is still the same. Spreader rigs taking top honors but the Maverick Kick Tail seems to be the tail of choice. Already had 2 wins with these baits and the third came on Sunday's ABA congratulations to the Cockriels on their first place victory this weekend and yes it was on Mavericks Kick Tails and the Spreader Rig. Other bites fish are still being caught on DD22's up shallow try brighter colors with the weather coming in. Rip Baits Pointe4 128's and Staysee 90's. If you are throwing plastics a dart head using a 4" Maverick Mini Shaker is a good bet. Look for fish in deeper water then throw to the nearest shallow water around that area working into the deeper water.

The bite is about the same the Spreader Rig leading the fish count. Many reports of fish being caught on this rig and some nice size. If you have not tried it time to so come up pick up a rig put some Maverick Kick Tails on the back and hang on. The minnow bite is holding even with the colder temps. Key on rock piles and breaks the deeper edges right now. Fish are still being caught in the morning up shallow chasing bait on the north end down from us here. Shaky Heads are picking up bu the sleeper bite is a dart head using the Maverick Mini Shaker or 3.5 inch paddle tail, a 1/16oz head is what I prefer but guys are using up to a 3/16oz and doing well around the bait. This is typically a great winter bite slow lift of the bottom or even dead sticking.

Some kind of cold out there. Fish are being taken on Minnows you can expect about 25 bites a day about 18-22 hook ups. They can be fished on a Split Shot rig, light Carolina Rig, Drop Shot and under a Float. The Jumbo Minnows are nice size and full of spunk so if you have never fished minnows come up and give it a try. For those who prefer baits I would stick with the Rip Baits and continue to use a Deep Crank in shallow water. The Rattle bait bite is still picking up few here and there. Spreader Rigs are catching a fair amount of the bass and I confirmed today that in one of the past tournaments the large bag was caught using Maverick Kick Tails. The Spreader Rig (In Stock)can be fished with many baits it is really up to you and your imagination. For soft plastics a Shaky Head with a Speed Worm or Senko seems to be best. Dart Heading small 3.5 Paddle Tails and Mini Shaker Worms are picking up those lazy fish.

Well the spreader rig is still the talk of the town people are using everything from River 2 Sea, Kick Tails, Paddle Tail Swim Baits to Grubs on them. But they are catching fish and some nice fish. Other patterns to try would be cranking a Glass Rap Shallow banging bottom, Dart Head a small Paddle Tail Worm 3.5 Maverick, Cranking a DD22 shallow, Bottom Walker deep, Ripping various baits. If you like Minnow Fishing the bite has been pretty good I know of a several people catching 30 plus pounds best 5 on these little live swim baits. Fish can be caught on soft plastics using a Shaky Head or Drop Shot but the key is slow.

Lots of talk out there about the Spreader Rig, this rig allows you to use a few baits at once. Many are using the Maverick Swim Tail or other Paddle Tails with this method and catching some large fish and numbers. This rig gives the appearance of a group of fsih swimming instead of one lure being cast and swam back. Now you have the look of 3-5 baits swimming in a school. We have been selling out of this item so if you want one please call and we will reserve one for you. Another great bite is the deep diving crank baits but not only in deep water but using them in shallow water and bumping bottom. A very good bit this past weekend. The Shad Rap #7 and Glass Rap were great bites as well this past weekend working them along the shore in Nice slow cranking keeping bottom contact. The Crank Bait bit has been good and I would consider it one of your lead off patterns. For soft plastics the Shaky Head and Drop Shot all producing fish. Use 8 inch Maverick worms or Trick worms for your Shaky Head and 4 inch on the Drop Shot. A Dart Head Rig can used as well try a little 3 inch minnow style bait. If you like minnows the bite is fair to good on minnows and big Cats are being caught as well. We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Well the last of the big tournaments is over and now hopefully the fish will recover. Pressure water pressured fish but compared to the last couple of years the lake has held up well. Fishing is good and now with the cooler nights it will even get better. Like all the tournaments these past weeks many baits got the job done. Jigs, Soft Plastics, Rip Baits, Swim Baits, Top Water, Spoons, Crank Baits all caught fish so fish your strengths. If you want to get in on a cool bite Bratos Marine is holding fish the hitch that were on the back side of Anderson moved in and the bass are biting. You can throw anything at them and they are chowing. One of the stand out baits for Maverick these past weeks has been the Mag Paddle Tail we have had a ton of great comments on the action of this bait. We also have seen this bait used in so many ways we are thinking of renaming it to the universal bait. Everything from jig trailer, to blade trailer, to Texas rigging it, to dart heading or a trailer on a swim jig all of which worked. So thanks for all the positive feedback. Bottom line get up here and go fishing the bite is good and getting better. Thingsa are shaping up for a good winter bite so this fall and winter plan a trip plenty of bait so lets hope that translates to great fishing.

A little pressure fish are starting to feel it but the bite is still good so come on up. OK 8 inch Worms still catching big fish inside the tulle and on the outside weed edge as well as jig in brown and purple. I bait that really turned on this weekend was the Mag Paddle Tail by Maverick tossed up tight. The big tail gives it a lot of vibration and fish were thumping it. Chatter Baits and LV on the reaction side always a good bet try north shore. Slow rolling a swim bait on the bottom or a swim jig is another bite that has been working. With the warmer weather this week look for some top water Spooks,Plunkers or some other type of surface bait. A pattern not much like to admit to but used often is really putting some fish in the boat is the Carolina Rig, try a 4 inch Zipper style bait a Maverick 8 or 10 inch worm behind it and hang on. This has been a really good bite the last two weeks. Another bite starting to pick up is the tube thrown tight inside the tulles. Guys the bait is everywhere, look for the Hitch you'll find the bigger bass

I get asked a lot what's the bite a lot of you are getting ready for tournaments or just fun fishing. You see reports that this bait or that bait is the magic bullet what do you think. Well the best way for me to answer this is fish your strenght, if you look at the last few tournaments different things one won each tournament. One tournament was won on brush hogs, another a jig, maybe a swim bait on another. Look at the big fish being caught 6 inch Senko nails a 10 pounder in one tournament a jig nails a 9 in another. Rip Baits take second Chatter Baits do well and heck this week tubes are catching fish shallow what does all this mean fish what you know use your knowledge develop a pattern work the fish. Right now you can catch a bunch of fish a variety of ways but don't over look the obvious as well if you have wind throw a Swim Bait what kind take your pick, what are you use to throwing and throw it. If the fish are beat up scale back an 8 inch worm will pick off some of those buggers with lock jaw. You see bait and fish a round them and they wont hit a top water or something on the bottom try a suspending bait or rip something out of the weeds around them. the fish are feeling the pressure but nice bags are still being caught time to get out there and fish. If you fish the north start in the 6-8 foot depths and work in to the 2 foot range. Cover the water between 8 and 2 with several patterns see what they are keying on. Down south structure and bait look for those and you probably will find the fish.

Some nice Tournaments, we have seen Jigs, Worms, Swim Baits, Rip Baits all do well. The key is finding active fish. Everyone knows the the docks in front of Anderson were holding but did you know because of the pressure you could push back and catch them deeper on Worms. So when the top water and swim bait action slowed all you needed to do was push back with a 8 inch worm rigged Texas or Drop Shot and pick up some nice fish. And what about that school out in front on the points by Konocti Vista, well here when the Slammers and Swim Baits action slowed a Chatter Bait seemed to be the ticket. Over on Henderson a lot of us like to crank that spot but Drop Shotting a big worm was a really good pattern lately and when the bite slowed we had luck throwing a spoon up shallow and walking it down the ledge. If you want to catch fish you should come to the lake we are getting fish a variety of ways and on a variety of baits as well.

WON down and FLW to go, well big worms, jigs were some of the preferred baits this past weekend and week. Ripping, swim baits, chatter baits, blades worked as well. A variety of the bigger baits worked well from S Wavers, to Huds,to Rago's, paddle tails all catching fish as well as top water baits like Slammers. I made a comment that you could tie a TIMEX Watch with a hook and catch fish well you probably could. But the big Worm seems to be the consistent bite, I have had ton's of call asking for the 10 and 8 inch Shaker Worms in Maverick Mangler and June's Choice. As soon as the weigh in was done day one the phone calls began. So we have been pouring these and don't worry we have plenty. Another stand out bait was the Beefy Craw as a jig trailer WOW thanks everyone for the positive feed back on this bait. For those throwing the BIG Worms try moving off into deeper water. Many of these hitch schools are being pounded so the fish have pushed off deeper and will take a slower presentation. A good way to rig this worm is Texas leaving about an inch of line between the bottom of the weight and the top of the bait. this allows the bait to float up off the bottom and just the tiniest movement will make that worm wiggle. Some drop Shot these worms if you wish to do that set your drop about 1/2 inch longer than the worm. We have found nice fish off the schools and were able to catch 20 lbs + using this method. We also made a point to fish around all the others to see if we could pull these fish off in crowded conditions and we did with the same kind of luck so it is worth the time.

Some nice numbers this weekend in the Tournaments. Well big worms all the lake is set up for this pattern. 10 and 8 inch Maverick worms seem to be GOLD right now. How to Texas Rig and believe it or not Drop Shot. Yes we have other patterns out there there is a jig bite best trailer the Beefy Craw seen so many bags go out of here can't keep up. Spoons bite is there but slowing down because of pressure. Cranking shallow cranks and Rip Baits in 3 to 4 feet. Chatter Bait still a rock solid bite. Another bite I heard of this week in the can't believe column is a Johnson Silver Minnow with a trailer slow rolled over the weeds that were cut back, great for the back of the boat this week. Spooks but the fish seem to be hitting weird and the hook ups are odd. Swim baits all kinds this bite seems to be the cookie cutter bite good fish but not the winning fish. Blades slowed rolled on the outer edge in the old tule berms or rock piles. Now wait for it Tubes in the schools of baits and up real shallow where the fish are busiting bait. Welcome to all the FLW fishermen we will be staying late for you all this week and open Monday for your needs. We hope you have a great time here and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

It is going to be a few busy weeks we have a lot of Tournaments coming up so the lake will some traffic. The bite has been good, a lot of fish are being caught on plastics in the 8 to 12 feet depths dragging brush hogs, creature baits and larger worms. The drop shot bit in this depth has been good as well Wacky the worm on the drop shot. Cranking can produce some nice fish Speed traps in chrome blue and chartreuse blue have been producing a lot of nice fish this past weekend. Other cranks are BDS 3 and Cotton Cordell Big O's for deep presentation the Deep Diving Rapala and DD 22's are picking up fish on rock piles and deep weed edges. If you like the LV a standard at this time fish are being caught but the bite has not hit full swing yet. Jigs in brown and orange colors and brown and purples are catching fish thrown in the 8-12 feet range on the old submerged tule clumps. Spoon fish can be caught in the 15-20 foot range mid lake and south this is one of my favorite bites. Top water fish are still being caught on variety of baits. Swim baits well for me better quality fish are being caught now other ways so until the bite starts really going I am focusing on high percentage baits producing quality fish this is not to say that there are not good swim bait fish there. Chatter baits what can I say this bite is coming on strong again with nice sacks this is a most 3/8 ounce chatter baits will get the job done.

Fishing is still pretty good if you are planning a trip you can expect 8-12 fish per day. Maverick Jigs in Brown and Orange or Brown and Purple are working well on dock and around tulles. The weeds continue to die off as well as the algae so water conditions north are pretty good as well. Last year we had a lot of isolated weed clumps for the TOC's and many were won on that pattern that might be a harder bite this year. We are seeing a crank bait bite out there speed traps, Cotton Cordell's Big O's and Shad Rap number 7. The Shad Rap is a solid bit ripped in some areas and just cranked in others. The large 9 series in Bass is coming on strong it is that time of year where the small bass eat small fish and the big bass eat the small bass. Some Spoon action in deeper water always good for a few fish. Dragging creature baits and split shotting worms on the bottom. We are starting to see a Shaky Head bit now that the weeds are dying back.

Go fish if you have not gotten out please go fish the bite is good this meaning 8-10 fish for a 4 hour period. Far from the old days but for now this is GOOD. Creature baits, Swim Baits, Cranks, Frogs, Shaky Head on hard bottom, Texas Rig. Focus on deeper isolated weed edges 12-15 feet. If you like deeper water mid lake 15 - 20 feet dragging creature baits. Look for bait balls schools of hitch and small shad have been spotted and where you find them toss a swim bait. Weeds up north are dying back and clarity is much better than the south. I was out helping a few friends last week pre fish and had a blast so head to the lake and get some time on the water.

The last few day the bite seems to have opened up a little. There is a frog bite but you have to commit to throwing it. Spooks turned on today as well a few friends were having a great time between 8 and 10am on this bait. For those who like a swim bait the Bass Magic yep I know haven't heard that name in a while has been working remarkably well these past few days stay with the 5 inch style. Key here is position your boat in about 5 feet of water and cast out to 10 and slowly bring it back. If you like cranking pitch your bait into holes and lanes and begin cranking keep the tip up and focus on baits that run 3-4 feet. On the outside weed edge you can run them as well or throw a Rapala DT7 and rip it out of the weeds. Fish are still being caught on soft plastics dragging and pitching to weed edges or isolated weed clumps.

Well the green ooozzz has arrived this is really a form of Algae but yes it is here. However even with the weeds and oozz fish are being caught the key is to move around look for cleaner water and just go fishing if you do this expect to catch 10-12 fish per day not bad. Best baits still seem to be soft plastics pitched, dragged, punched and drop shotted increase the length of your drop on the shot set up..Another good bite is cranking I know you are thinking weeds and algae, look for the weed edges, holes or pockets and cast your bait into it. We are seeing some good action on this pattern fish tend to run 2-3 pounds but the action is fun. Mid lake think of banging rocks and fishing deeper some really good report of fish in the narrows dragging brush hogs and drop shotting 6 inch worms. Key colors for the worms have been Maverick Mangler and Oxblood Craw. If you like banging bottom the Maverick Mag Paddle tail and the Beefy Craw have been working well.

Summer nice, OK starting to get calls about the weeds and green stuff. Yes we are starting to see it is the lake fishable very much so. Every year Clear Lake goes through this pattern this is normal. Should you come fish yes we have been having some nice days fishing. So if your planning a trip come on down we are catching fish. Fish are hitting Senko's, Drop Shots, Creature Baits, Jigs, Top Water baits and more. There is a nice Slammer bite at night. The edge of the weeds you are picking up drop shot and senko fish and there is a pretty good split shot bite. Target holes in the weeds and tules with your senko, punch bait or Texas rig. If you like fishing docks drop shot and crank the deep side in the shade. For top water fun a frog bite is showing up around the lake, your Ricco is working and aleo the horny toad bite shows sign of life. So come on out and have some fun we jumped over spring and now the fish are biting so come have fun.

Happy forth everyone, the bite is pretty good so it is time to fish. Fish can be caught on a variety of things right now everything from Drop Shot, Punching, Senko, Cranking, Texas Rig, to Top water. Favorite baits now are Senko's, Brush Hogs, 6 inch worms in Oxblood. Purples, and Greens. Speed traps along docks and weed edges. For the top Water bite Try a Ricco, Pop R or Skitter Pop. Some Frog action and Spooks depending on the day. Don't forget the Buzzbait as well we have had some days where this bait was on fire. Work holes in weeds and edges, also try the deep side of the weed edge a lot of fish are hanging out there post spawn getting ready to move out and feed.

Hot what a year from high water to wind and rain even into June, but summer is hear. Warm temps and a ton of fish heading to the bank for spawn, this could be the major spawn this full moon. A lot of bucks in the 3 pound class we had a rare 15 + caught here recently but most weights are lower. Tournament results have been off as well some 20+lbs but most under. That being said fish are being caught and if you are willing to put the time in you can have some pretty nice days for numbers. The north is still good but the weeds are coming up quick so target holes in the weeds and the outside old weed line. The Rattle Snake arm has been putting out some numbers as well, here you can target rocks and off shore structure. Drop Shots, Jigs, Texas rig, Cranking and some Frog fish rounding out the patterns. Good Color choices are Oxbloods, Purples, and Watermelon Candy in your worms and Brush Hogs. If you like to throw a jig PBJ and brown and purple using pumpkin trailers. Frogs well same old classics will get the job done there, frogs are averaging about 2-3 fish a day with the occasional double blade buzz bait fish thrown in.

OK it is almost June and it still feels like winter most of the time what's up with that. Fish are feeling the same way but we had a few days this past week where the bite was pretty good on plastics. Yes plastics drop shots, shaky head, Texas rig, brass and glass and a dart head all methods catching fish. Up north use a brush hog on a Texas rig around trees and tulles. Inside the Tulle line throw a a 4inch zipper style bait shake it on brass and glass. Target holes in weeds with a ring worm on a dart head or light brass and glass set up. If you see fish throw a drop shot or shaky head both these methods can be used back inside the tulle line as well or around docks and on rock piles in the south. For those who like fishing south try deep cranking some of the rock piles or throwing mister jiggles (jig) on them. Reports of Speed Trap fish we are starting to hear also throwing a square bill like a Big O around the ends of docks and up in Rodman.

Well the fishing Gods are testing us this Spring, challenging us can we adjust can we find the fish for those who can you are looking at 8 to 10 fish a day and that is hard fishing better than a lot of places but not the old numbers we had. For me and my friends plastics have been the ticket, worms in reds and greens. the Maverick red devil 4 in Shark has been performing well. A bite long forgotten the ring worm I have set up several people using this method with great success this week. Brush Hogs in watermelon purple Carolina Rigged have produced some nice fish this week. For those who prefer Drop Shotting the Maverick 6 in Watermelon Candy and the 3.5 Paddle Tail in the same color are clear stand outs this week. For those who like throwing frogs the bite has been on and off but the frog used as a good search bait is good. When the fish boils on the frog trow in immediately with a punch bait an 99% of the time you will nail him. Some crank bait fish are showing on the outside of deep docks a square bill like a Big O by Cordell a great choice. Focus on the mouths of creeks and back in tules on he north, South find the rock pile you will find some post fish there. Bed fish can be found throughout the system depending on the wind. ything, look for our sign at the dock at the Lucky 4 Resort just south of the Skylark Shores Motel. Just pull up to the dock, park yo

Back to the rain back to the up and down temps back to fish not knowing what to do. You can still find fish on beds, staging and post. Ring worms having been doing quite well boy there is an oldie but they still catch them. Try throwing a ring worm Texas rigged with a 1/16 ounce bullet weight pegged back in the tules and worked slow. A great post spawn bait is a three and a half inch paddle tail rigged the same way the slow fall just drives them nuts. Buzz Baits and Frogs worked over beds another good way of calling up a few bites. The Shaky Head and Drop shot seem to be good bites since the fish want a slower presentation and the same with the Senko don't move your baits more or less dead stick them. A few crank bait fish on the outside of the tule and around docks use a speed trap.

The fishing has slowed plastics seem to be the consistent bite. Senko's fished slow let them soak, Shaky Head with an 8" worm, Drop Shotting with a 4" inch worm. The Frog bite has been fair worked over beds same as a trick worm, remember bass don't like anything over their heads when on beds. Another bait you could use would be a bait with a prop like a Devil Horse or Buzz Jet. The Swim Bait bit is up and down focus on using a 5 to 6 inch bait worked slow or thrown on beds. Work jigs on the outside tulle edge dragging. A few other bites to consider would be tubes in pockets inside the tulle edge and a plain and simple grub. Some places to try Rocky Point, Adobe Creek, Corques,

Looks like this week we will have some better weather would be nice to see signs of spring again. Fishing last week was a little on the hard side last week. Fish caught on artificial lures was down the minnow bite was still holding. Fish that were tricked in to biting were caught on Brush Hogs, Senko's, Trick Worms, Jigs, Blades, and some Swim Baits. The soft Plastic bite seemed to be the best bite one key stand out out was a 4" worm they seemed to want smaller last week. Several customers showed me pictures of fish caught on smaller offerings. Some were flipping and pitching deep back for bedding fish or fish that were about to bed up. A lot of reports of fish caught that had already spawned out so remember we have bedders, staggers, and posts going on now so patterns will vary depending on what you are targeting. The staggers will want your reaction baits, the bedders will like the flipped and pitched baits while the post will want something smaller. The bite still seems to be about location rather than bait, if you find the biting fish they will hit many styles of baits.

Well the wild water temps up and down are having an affect on the bass, this time of year fish want to go they want to get on beds. While some will regardless some don't like the changing temps and become sluggish and we are seeing that in the bite. Slow down scale down especially on days where the lake is gettting a lot of pressure from tournaments. If you throw swim baits think about throwing a swimming jig with a paddle tail trailer. Remember fish tight to wood, walls, any structure out there a good bait for this is a Trick Worm rigged wacky on a flick shake style hook shaking it down. One of my favorites is a weightless worm throw it back let it fall slow a Maverick worm is great for this. For those who prefer to throw a jig use a slow drag instead of hopping it and for the shaky head no need to shake the hell out of it a couple of shakes and let it set then drag it. A lot of areas have been pounded with recent tournaments but fish seem to be reloading in those areas pretty well so tulles, points docks near spawining areas, mouths of creeks, sloughs behind docks all these have fish in or around them. For those who prefer the live swim bait style of fishing "Minnows" the bite is great, if you have not done this get out and try it you won't regret it.

The bite was great for some tuff for others, the high water makes it difficult to find fish and for those who like to fish tulle lines and edges it makes it difficult to find those productive edges, however when you find them you can catch numbers and some nice fish. Blades, swim baits, jigs, shaky heads all catching fish and nice fish. The key now is get out on the water and fish, we have fish moving up some already back while others are hanging on the edege waiting to go up. The Hitch have shown up so larger swimbaits could be the trick. Position yourselves near sloughs, and creeks for the fish feeding up for spawn. For those who have moved up tight throw jigs or brush hogs. If you are targeting the ones staging on the breaks slow roll a blade or swimbait. Right now you can find fish in all depths pick your strengths and fish them.
For thise who like to fish Mendo the small mouth bite there has been crazy. Try throwing blades and jigs, many of my friends have been doing quite well on this lake. Another thing to keep in mind if you have kids is the Trout Deerby on Blue Lakes it's right around the corner, this is a great event for the kids so check them out. And one last thing we have the 1st Konocit Vista Casino Team Classic in two weeks if you have not signed up think about it, you will be fishing in prime time Prime conditions should be a blast.

The water seems to be going down slow but going down, no signs of Noah and his big boat. With high water comes the problem of trying to find fish, are they on the break, ok what break where is the break. Or have they headed back deep in the jungle they have now available to them well the answer is both. Higher water throws your depth perception off a little when looking at the bank remember the water is higher up so you will tend to move in over some good spots. Blades slow rolled threw the old tulle berms on the bottom has been a good pattern same as dragging a swim bait threw it as well, key slow roll. Take a small swim bait and pitch it back to what would look like good spawning areas, some bass are already up there holding, work it slowly out swimming, hopping change it up a bit. Pitching or flipping a jig back into the nasty stuff or on the outside in the old growth tulle very good pattern. Lots of fish being reported caught on shaky heads and drop shots in those same areas. Chatter bait still catching there share of the fish try darker colors right now the color line on the lake is ever changing.

OK can we have a break from the rain. Well this weekends tournament produced some nice limits. Fish are still being caught on swim baits, rip baits, chatter baits, shaky head, jigs, and blades. The key is more location than bait, being on active fish is more the pattern. With the influx of water from recent rains and rains to come the water will be stained, focus on the north side of creek inlets or areas that tuck back from the current being drawn down to Cache Creek. Be careful this high water will bring things into the lake so there will be many hazards out there so keep a clear eye. In dirty or stained water remember to use darker colored baits or bait that have a bright color to stand off against the darker water, rattles and smelly stuff a plus. Slow down let the fish have time to find the bait.

Well we had a great turn out for the Holder Ford Tournament this past weekend 155 boats and 60.11lbs to win full results on the front page here. Well if one thing is for certain many baits were catching fish, was there a stand out not really. We heard Chatter Baits, Swim Baits, Jigs, Ripping, Senko's, Drop Shotting you name it we heard it. What most said was if you found fish you got on them and you could do it with a variety of baits. North End seemed to be the place where most caught fish. Top weight was done by ripping according to the anglers. Best baits were Rapala Shad Raps, Glass Raps, Count Down Minnows, The Shad Slash Bait and Pointer 128's. Swim Baits ran the market from Mission Fish to Rago's to Small Paddle Tails, River 2 Sea and a few Osprey. Jigs Brown and Orange, and Brown and Purple seemed to be the most popular. Blades and Chatter Baits accounted for many of the top spots color did not seem to be the issue. What we really saw was a nice variety of baits catching fish throughout the system.

Higher water changing weather conditions and water temps around 51 degrees looks like things are shaping up to be a year like last year. Remember we had water temps that went up and down for a long time so what do we expect? If you remember last year we had the Elites here and the tournament produced a variety of baits to catch fish and it looks like this year is tracking closely to last. Yes you can catch swim bait fish now up around the tulles and on breaks best choice a Rago, but reports good reports on chatter bait fish remember this pattern took a close second last year We have a new Chattlin Jig that is working extremely well. Also I am hearing good reports of swimming a jig this was the back up pattern for last years second place elite winner when not throwing his chatter bait. Try the Maverick Swimming Jig with a Horny Toad trailer very nice set up. Third place was using a rattle bait still producing fish this year. Other baits last year that seem to be working well this year is a rip bait, the pointer 128 seems to be this years stand out. And how could you forget the jig, black brown and green pumpkin black great choices. For those fishing minnows we have heard some great reports on the minnow bite, stop by if you need them we have them in stock.

Based on the tournament this past Sunday catching seems to be all about being on active fish. We had some nice bags and some anglers telling us that they had multiple bites. Others had a harder time with fewer bites, so this shapes up to be a location bite. With the water temps around 46 degrees and more cold weather expected this weekend focus on areas holding hitch ready to make their way up stream or back into sloughs. First place was said to have come out of the north while second from the south showing fish spread out in the system. Most threw swim baits like the Rago 7 inch Velvic, others ripped Pointers, some threw Chatter Baits and Jigs, in fact one of the first place winners said he caught his fish on the Maverick Jig and the the new Chatllin Jig. So clearly a reaction bite but don't count out a Carolina Rig or Shaky Head. Remember we are now selling Jumbo Minnows so keep us in mind when purchasing your live bait.

Snow WOW reminds me of home. But what an affect on the lake water temps dropping to 43 degrees, just a week ago they were in the mid 50's. Well Some nice fish are being caught on Swim Baits, Rip Baits, Chatter Baits, and Jigs. If you like throwing a Swim Bait the Rago 7 inch light hitch seems to be the ticket, that and the River 2 Sea bottom walkers. For those Ripping, Pointer 128's and the Rapala's are working well. Chatter Bait style baits took third in the WON today in particular the Maverick Chattlin Jig. It is nice to see color on the water and the lake rising lets hope we reach full pool and then some so we can have a good spawn. Your average fish seem to be in the 4 to 5lb class so if you catch a limit chances are it will be a 20-25lb bag. Big fish seem to be averaging in the 7lb class. The Minnow bite seems to good and by the way we now are selling Minnows so if you need them please keep us in mind, $11.00 Dozen.

Finally I get to say the bite is improving it has been a long time coming. Fish are being caught on crank baits in the shallows up to 9 feet. Norm DLN, Luckycraft, and Speed Traps all catching fish. The bite seems to be picking up. Some swim bait action as well try River 2 Sea dragged on the bottom or even the storm Wild Eye nice reports on these baits catching fish. A Shaky Head with a Brush Hog or a Maverick 8" worm seem to be working if you prefer plastics. North try in front of creek channels start shallow and work out to about 12 feet. The fish are moving back and forth. Down south Indian Island seems to be holding fish and down at Jago. If you are working the edge of the tulles crank it up drag, bang and make a lot of noise with the crank bait.

Well I heard tale of some fish being caught, yes it is true not a lot but life. "He's Alive", remember the movie. Tell you what come in and tell me the name of the movie that line came from if you get it I will give you a Maverick product. OK back to the bite, some are cranking Bd3s and 4s and using the Rick Clunn series up in the shallow waters. Others are starting to throw Speed Traps in fire tiger and chartreuse blue but all in all some nice signs. The bite seems to be hit and miss depending on the day but regular reports are coming in. Some rip fish still being caught doesn't seem to be a color thing more of a location thing so if you are around good ripping water pull it out and try it. I like points where tulles emerge in the spring, remember there are weeds growing as we speak on some of these points so try a few out. Swim Baits well the best bite I have heard is River 2 Sea dragged real slow on the bottom, recently I have started coloring my baits just to make them look different. Paint Pins work great. For those who like plastics the Shaky Head worked real slow barely moving with a Maverick Xmas gold 8 inch did well this week. I have heard tale of a better minnow bite this week. A young man accompanied by his grandfather a long term customer got 13 fish on Thursday in 3 hours. Had the thumb rash to prove it, way to go and grandpa thanks for taking him fishing he looked stoked.

I am starting to wonder what this year will be like, this weekend past tournament had some nice fish but still the numbers just are not there. Fish are being caught on River 2 Sea Bottom Walkers and other Swim Baits dragged on the bottom. A few fish were tricked into biting on cranks and jigs. A consistent bite has been a Shaky Head using Baby Brush Hogs but slow is still the word. Up north target outside creeks the hitch are sitting in deeper water about 12 feet waiting for the next warm rain to make their way up those creeks. Down South target Rocks and deep docks. It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers we see here in February and March that should give us a clue as to what we will see the rest of the year. Lets hope we see some numbers start shoeing up at these tournaments. Remember the Holder Ford Tournament is coming up so if you have not signed up please consider it, this is a fun event for bragging rights and always draws a lot of boats.

First let me start with I know the fishing reports have seemed well not great but I would rather tell you all the truth then to make up some stuff just to get you up here in the store. Many of you travel long distances to fish here so I try and keep it as real as I can so you can decide if you wish to make the trip with this information. With that said the bite is hard in my tournament last weekend we only had 12 fish caught out of 12 boats. The club tournament the day before had 2 fish for 11 boats pretty tough out there. Reports on how the fish were caught were mostly swim baits dragged on the bottom. Remember we have been talking about taking 4-6 minutes to get the bait in well nothing changed there. The other bite I heard about was the jig in Black and Blue a friend caught his fish on a Maverick 1/2oz black/blue jig dragging slow with long dead sticking in between. If you have been reading the reports the common factor has been slow dragging and dead sticking so what ever you are doing do it slow.

I sure hope 2011 is better than 2010 for those who do not know I lost my boat before Christmas, she burned up in my driveway cause still unknown, very sad. OK fishing report not much of a change the best fish I have heard caught have been on swim baits dragged on the bottom. Throw your bait out let it sink and start reeling slow, real slow. Another bite is the LV bite here you due the same but with a little pop every now and then of the bottom. You want the bait to flip from side to side if you can. A good bait for this is the old rattle trap great for winter dragging. Reports of a shaky head fish have come in here and there mostly mid lake reports. Some jig fish black and blue being caught on the Nice side key is slow drag then dead stick for a bit and then drag, slooooooooooowwwwwwww. The ABA Clear Lake event is this Sunday sign ups at the shop starting at 5:00am please have your boat quagged prior to the sign up. Weigh In will be at Vista Casino so please come out and join us. Remember this year the pay back is one in three. This means payouts go deeper down into the field of fishermen.

Hope all had a Merry Christmas and hopefully you will have a Happy New Year as well. Fishing is still slow even the minnow bite is up and down. But lets remember we had a great year for bait fish, we had a good year for crawdads, we have had several reports of nice shad balls, we had a great spawn with the high water last year and it looks like the lake level is on track for another good year. All this is going to set the fishing up for some nice years ahead of us. OK so what is going on now, well there is a little Shaky Head action on rocks and around deep docks. If you like dragging a big Swim Bait like a Hud you can catch a couple of nice fish but you will work this bait a lot of hours for a few fish. The LV bite is there in a hit and miss kind of way, if you stay with it you can get some nice fish. Brass and Glass had fooled a few fish this week along with dragging a brush hog. I would love to say the bite is great but that would not be true the fact is you are going to spend a lot of time on the water for a few bites. But the nice thing is the fish you catch are ranging from 3 to 6lbs. Reports of a few crappie have come in, the usual spots Kona, the old resort and outside Holiday Harbor. Catfish seemed to slow down as well but we had several month of great whisker fishing. My focus would be mid lake, Henderson, Shag, the Narrows behind Anderson, although I have heard of some jig fish over by Rattle Snake. Have fun all be safe and from my family to yours Happy New Year.

I guess the question is are fishing being caught, the answer is yes not big numbers but fish are being caught. You can still catch a few on the rattle baits using a yo yo pattern of the bottom. Still reports of rip fish coming in, this bite has switched to deeper water outside weed edges using Staysee's or Shad Raps Weighted. Some friends have reported a better jig bit of late using black/blue and brown/purple's. The key with this bite is slow almost dead sticking the bait. A few fish here and there on drop shots and shaky heads target deep docks and rocks piles. For those who like the swim bait try throwing a Hudd or Baitsmith, drag it real slow along the bottom some of the nicer fish are hitting these baits. Key to this pattern is slow roll the bait on the bottom it should take like 5 to 6 minutes to retrieve this bait.

Fishing on a whole is still on the slow side. Reports of rip fish have come in as well as jig fish. The larger rip baits seem to be producing a few nice fish Pointers and Rapala are my first choice. I found a few of the old 18 Rapalas the other day and a few friends have tried them out and low an behold they still catch fish. Funny how we move on to the new things and forget about the fish we caught with the old school stuff. If we truly believe that fish get conditioned it might be time to go back to some of these old time favorites, just a thought. Rock piles and deep docks are the most consistent water and the 8 to 12 feet range on the outside of the dying weeds. Some fish are being caught on shaky heads and drop shots but slow down not a lot of movement. The LV bite is off and on like it has been all fall and the swim bait bite can be good when you find them, try dragging a Hud on the bottom slow.

I wish I could report that the fishing was great but we re still struggling through with this hard bite. Some fish are being taken on Rip Baits such as Pointer 128 and Rapala 18's. The LV bite is hit and miss, Swimbaits like Bottom Walkers are producing some fish but nothing really consistent. Reports of drop shot fish on rock plies as well as some jig fish. Try swimming a jig using a toad trailer. If you are fishing north key on the 8 to 12 feet depths the outside edge of the old weed beds, if you are south look for rock piles and deep points. Some Crappie are being taken at the usual hot spots on red/white, red/yellow and shad mini jigs. Catfish are still being caught on a variety of baits and the minnow bite for bass is not bad.

Conditions still tough for the most part, but if you stick with the junk fishing pattern you increase your odds. Reaction baits like rattle baits, chatter baits, ripping, blades, and some smaller swim baits all picking up fish here and there. Some fish are hitting shaky heads on rock piles and on breaks. Drop Shotting can be hit or miss depending on where you are at on the lake. I have heard the jig bite is starting to pick up down around Henderson. Reports of swim bait fish as well they tell me that if you are in the right spot you can catch some nice fish and a fair amount. The fish are schooling it appears so if you tag one stay there and fish awhile to see if they are bunched up. Some reports this week on spoons down south in deeper water around Rattle Snake and Wheeler as well.

Well the past three tournaments have had some interesting weights. Most of the field in all three events had partial limits, one fish or none. One stand out was that when you found the fish you got on them some nice bags. What does this mean well they are bunched up so when you find them work them. Fish seem to be staging on the end of docks now and holding a weed clumps that are attached to bottom. Most fish are being caught in 1-3 and 8 -12 feet of water. Junk fishing is the pattern if that really is a pattern throwing several baits till you hit the right combination. Fish have been caught on rattle baits, spooks, crank baits, smaller swim baits, punching, chatter baits, and blades. The key is working in the shallow and then moving out and positioning yourself out over weeds. covering as much water as possible. North for the most part has been the most consistent but reports have the south starting to pick up around Konocti and around the dock in Rattle Snake.

First I would like to thank all anglers this past week for their support during this tournament week. Well the bite was odd we had some nice bags this tournament but we had a lot of boats that had none or few fish. From what i heard it was all about being on active fish, but when you found them you loaded the boat. Reaction baits LV's, Chatter Baits, Blades, some Swim Baits, Punching, Buzz Baits all seemed to catch fish in the right areas. Fish were being caught on the outside weed edge and the inside edge. From what i hear and see no one stand out pattern yet. Junk Fishing is the approach throw a lot of things and see what happens but when you find them hang out and work the water. More reports of quality fish north than south. We are running are version of a stimulus package seems the other ones are not helping so we are offering 15% off purchases over $50.00 hope this helps.

Nice to see the fishing picking up and the fish that are being caught are chunks. Bait fish everywhere we even are hearing reports of 5 inch thread fin shad. Well lets hope for a mild winter with lots of rain. OK reaction is the ticket fish are being caught on crank baits like Speed Traps in Chrome Blue and Chrome Black up shallow and banging off wood in Rodman. Rattle baits Yo Yo style a typical fall pattern has produced some nice fish this week. The chatter bait bite is still going strong the key here is using a big trailer, a larger profile is the difference between catching and not. Also contact when throwing this bait every time you feel it hang up pop it, the bite occurs most often here. Top water well this bite can be good if you find them, if you are lucky and find a group of fish who want it on top you can load the boat but the bite seems to be specific to certain areas and finding the area may take a little effort. Good reports of fish being caught on River 2 Sea bottom walkers on the deeper points and in front of weed edges in deeper water. Blade fish have been caught north around weeds color does not seem to be the factor as much as just throwing the bait in the right places. The dart head bite is still a strong bite targeting pockets in the weeds as well as the shaky head bite. For those who like jigs the swimming jig rigged with a Horny Toad or other large trailer is working well in the shallow water in and around tulles. Right now you can fish a lot of different ways so after the summer we had if you have the chance to hit the water now is a good time. Welcome to all the Triton Owners fishing here this week good luck, we are here to serve you and look forward to seeing you. We held are last ABA of the season on Sunday and some nice weights were caught. Most fishermen said they got into a nice top water bite later in the day. In all we had 8 limits over 20lbs not bad at all. Others said they caught their fish on rattle baits, jigs and crank baits. Fish were being caught in the north County Park and State, Rodman, and some reports of a bite in the south. It seems like the fall bite is shaping up and the usual baits are working, a collective sigh of relief. So time to bust out the reaction baits and start thinking about hitting the water.

Weather is changing weeds are dying back and the bite is getting better a little each day. Is it wide open no but it is getting better reports of more bites each day. The dart head bite is still a good bet 4 and 5 inch worms on a light dart head used in and around weeds and opening or thrown under docks. Shaky Head with beaver style baits are accounting for some nice fish again around weeds and also on rock piles. Deep Cranking in the fall is always a must, Norman DD22's in Lavandar Shad, Chartreuse Blue, and Black Red combo's will pick up some fish down south. Still not a lot of top water activity out there except in pockets. For those who can find frog fish when your in them you can load the boat. Try some speed traps up north some good reports of chrome blue working so make sure you have one tied on.

Welcome to all the fishermen here to fish Bob's Marine, the bite has picked up a little and like I said before the lake is starting to have a heart beat. Deep Cranking DD22's in Lavanadar Shad, and Chartreuse blue have accounted for some nice fish this week. The dart head bite using 5 and 4 inch worms is still a good bet as well as a Shaky Head with a beaver style bait. Reports of blade fish, chatter bait fish and speed trap fish came in all week mostly north. Dragging a 8 to 10 inch worm in deeper water can be very productive if you want to avoid the weeds.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend, didn't see a whole lot of fishermen on the water. Well the bite is still on the hard side threw some rattle baits no takers. Threw a frog a few bumps seemed they were just having sport with it. Had a nice fish on a buzz bait early in the morning. Seemed most of my fish came on dart heads using light weight and small 4 inch worms fishing edges and pockets. Spencer got on a large worm bite in deeper water using a Carolina rig. Small seemed to be the key around weeds while big seemed to be the key in deep water on structure. A few crank bait fish here and there nothing to right home to mom about. The bite is recovering slowly but it is recovering talked to a few friends they had a couple of good days on shaky heads using everything from worms to beaver style baits.

A friend borrowed my boat Monday and got into a good frog bite, yep you heard it a good frog bite. He called me to tell me what a great time he was having as I sat working on the on line store we are about to launch. Bert I am glad you had such a good day you deserve it. So what does that mean to us well the past 3 days I have heard signs of life back in this pond. Not a pounding heart beat but a slow rise lets hope it gets stronger. Oh a bit of good news to boot a couple of the frog fish chocked up a few shad yes shad not silver sides, we can only hope that it was not the only ones in the lake. For those that Love to Drop Shot reports on Monday and Tuesday have come in of a pretty good bite. Dragging a brush hog or jigger craw is a good pattern as well

Well signs of life in the bite better reports this week than last. Some nice reports of jig fish being caught a few fish around 6 reported. Brass and Glass still working try a Zoom Speed Worm down around mid lake. Blades are still producing some fish through out the day, this bite seems to come and go all day. If you are throwing frogs and you are experiencing them coming up and just swatting at them scale down to a smaller frog or try a toad style bait in a shad color. For those who go out at night try a Slammer in dark colors a couple nice reports this week on that bait. For those traveling up to Clear Lake the road at the Casino is under construction you will be diverted around to the new road they are building. Currently it is dirt but very passable they have done a good job of compacting it to drive on.

A little change a few more fish being caught this past weekend better than the week before. Dragging a brush hog and worm slow seems to be a pattern. People are still catching fish on Drop Shots, Brass and Glass working deeper water like mid lake. The key is to work an area slow, a lot of us if we are there a few minutes without a bite we motor to the next spot. Try staying in an area you know holds fish and work it slow you will probably get more bites right now. Reports of some big fish at night are coming in Slammers and Buzz Jets seem to bee the ticket here. A friend of mine was out with a friend and they nailed a 12 on a Buzz Jet no bull. So give a little O Dark Hundred fishing a try.
Updated 8/20/10
Well the bite really has had no real change, fish are being caught mid lake in 18 to 24 feet of water. Split Shot rigs, Brass and Glass, Carolina rigs, weighted Senko's and Drop Shotting seem to be working best. Now best means 6 to 10 fish a day right now, and that's a long hard fished day. A few reports of frog fish in pockets have been reported with a buzz bait fish thrown in here and there. Crank bait fish are being caught in lanes where weeds have died back up north or on weed edges. Speed Traps in chrome blue and craw fish patterns. I went out with Tami Curtis the other night for a few and had great time more laughing than fishing but it was fun, Thanks Tami maybe some day she will tell you about the great shake off moment.
Updated 8/13/10
Still a difficult bite out there so slow down and think smaller soft plastics. Brass and Glass seems to be working in the deeper water. This is similar to a Texas rig with the addition of a bead between the weight and the hook. This makes a clicking sound similar to a craw fish. Weighted Senko's in deeper water such as mid lake, try drop shotting a smaller worm 5 inch as well. Some crank bait fish are being caught using Speed Traps, BD4 and 3's sunfish and crayfish patterns. Look for lanes in the weed mats, and shade around docks. Top water is hit and miss have a rod rigged ready to go so when you see a fish break surface you can respond by throwing right in on him.
Updated 8/7/10
The bite is still hard but we have found some fish mid lake in deeper water that seem to want to play, not a lot but enough to make the day interesting. What do I mean mid lake this is the narrows, Anderson Island, and Dollar Island area. Try throwing some brass and glass rigged with a Baby Brush Hog, a weighted Senko, drop shot a Maverick worm or deep crank some of the rock piles. If you plan to fish the north end throw some crank baits like Speed Traps and a BD3 in craw fish patterns or sunfish patterns. Look for lanes in the weeds, open areas around docks or weed edges that have little points on them. Junk fishing is still the order of the day, if your not getting bit move your not going to change their minds cover water.

Wish I had a better report but the bite is hard but I would rather tell the truth for all those planning a trip this way. If you are going to hit the water think Junk Fishing. You will throw many baits and cover a lot of water to get a few fish. Things you will need to try a Senko in pockets or on the edge of weeds, a Speed Trap thrown on the edge of the weed line, a jig on rock piles, Brass ans Glass on the break or in pockets, a frog or Buzz Bait, a Texas rigged Brush Hog a blade all have caught fish but I have not heard of great numbers being caught. The key is cover water and try everything including the kitchen sink. North's water quality is a better but weedier you will be fishing off shore in a lot of areas and pretty far at that.

Fishing is a little tougher but fish are being caught on Senko's. Reports of Chatter Bait fish are coming in using black and blue with Horny Toad trailers. Frog fish can be caught on mats but you will throw it a lot for a few bites. Drop Shot fish can still be caught in the pockets of the weed mats and on the edges. Crank Bait fish can be caught in the lanes between the mats using Speed Traps in Crawdad patterns. Remember to put the sun screen on several times through out the day!

Hope all had a great 4th. Fish are still being caught on Senko's inside the tules and around docks. Color does not seem to be important, location seems to be more of the key. Drop shots using 4 inch worms MMM III, Red Crawler, Maverick\s Watermelon Candy and Mavericks Ring It in Shad all good choices. Some reports of fish being caught ripping Red Eye Shads on top of the weed beds and this weekend a lot of reports on Blade Fish. The top water bite is seeing signs of life with the Pop R, Ricco and Spook all producing good bites but many reports had fish going early in the morning or the last 2 hours of the day. A frog bite seems to be occuring from 10 to 2 each day and the colors are your basics Black, White, Green. The Shakey Head bite using 8" Shakers from Maverick in June's Choice did very well last week as well. Seems the fishing is picking up so hit the water and have a good time.

Nice weather. Not too hot and not too cold so lake temps are starting to climb and that signals the change to a slow fishing pattern. The last 3 days my son got some nice blow ups on a frog, he tricked a few with a Ricco and busted several with a drop shot. As he cruised the channel he saw a lot of bedding fish and a lot of fry with bass busting them. My son Spencer was getting bites on a drop shot but no hook ups. He figured out that the fish were actually hitting the weight. So he noticed that the fry that the bass were feeding on were about the size of about his drop shot weight. He decided to rig the hook through the drop shot weight and proceeds to whack a 3 pounder. Proud of his idea he decides to see if it will work again finds another bass feeding on fry and repeats his performance, Creative. That kind of sums up things. Fish are feeding on fry so scale down for those active bass; poppers, Ricos, weightless 3 inch worms are all catching fish. The frog and toad bite seem to be picking up so remember to throw this in the morning and over the mats. A friend of mine is doing pretty good ripping shallow cranks and red eye shads out of weeds. Fish are still being caught deep inside the tule line pitching, flipping and punching. If you see bedding bass try pitching a white tube at him.

Fishing on a whole is a little tough. Fishing slow and using smaller baits has produced fish inside the tulle lines. The fish are still holding deep inside the tulle line under lay downs and around structure near the banks. Drop shots, small beaver style baits, crawfish baits worked slow seem to be the ticket. With the warmer weather I would hope to see a better frog and toad bite. Some fish have been reported on shallow cranks ripping them out of the grass, this bite is starting to take shape on the north end. I have also heard that blades inside the tulles have picked up a few fish in this weekend. A post spawn pattern is holding at the end of docks in 10 to 12 feet of water using Senko's and tubes. With the week of warmer weather coming more fish should move up for a late spawn. Try targeting them with a white tube or grub. I just wanted to take a moment to thank my pro's this week that I fished with at the Delta during the FLW National Guard event, thank you for a great time. Also a big thank you to Rich and Julie Smith for their gracious hospitality for allowing me to stay with them.
